I didn’t think I would like London. Too busy, too many people too many buildings.

Pollution …smog…noise.

But she absolutely clobbered me with love. Lock stock and barrel, head over heels in love. It’s such a delicious combination of old and new.

Buildings with Corner Stones well over 1000 years old snuggled in along side of ultra modern sky scrapers.

Fi & Chi, mom and pop shops, alongside hoity-toity haute couture salons.

And then there are things like this! We stumbled across this old fashioned phone box that was completely overrun with ivy one day on our travels. Something about it spoke to me and I just had to capture it to paint later down the road.

London phone boxes are pretty much defunct as phone boxes these days. Cellular/mobile phones have taken over and most of these iconic red boxes have become run down and are in need of repair. The good news, is that they are now being repurposed for all kinds of wonderful uses. See the extra gallery pictures for just a few that we found in our travels.

It’s a very happy memory for me. Sending much love to our favourite home away from home.
